'Swann spreads wings with global vision', reports Fin Review
The Australian Financial Review has profiled Swann and the company’s global ambitions including its most recent growth in the Middle East. The article appeared in the October 3 edition within the ‘Information’ section of the paper, entitled ‘Swann spreads wings with global vision.’
The article was written by Mark Jones following an in-depth interview with Swann’s newly appointed CEO, Dr Ron Lane and reported on Swann’s global growth strategy and its sales targets to hit $US400 million (5 million) in revenue over the next three years.

The report looks at Lane’s ambitions to take the company far beyond its humble roots selling computer modems and peripherals in Australia since 1988 under the leadership of David Swann.’ Lane expressed his plans to seize on the ‘narrow window of opportunity selling computer based, stand-alone closed circuit TV hardware and software solutions that can be monitored via the Internet or a television.’
Under the new Lane structure the company’s forecast sakes are set to reach $US45-50 million this year, and in 2007 set to rise to $US100 million, then skyrocket to $US400 million by 2008 or 2009. Lane stated that by the middle of next year Swann would have global offices in the Philippines, Singapore, the Middle East, Turkey, France, Germany and the UK. ‘“We are focusing on the top 200 global retailers to take on security productsâ€â€™, he commented.
‘He said US consumers spent $US1.5 billion on security systems last year, but 90 percent of that was done by professional installers. The so-called “DIY security market remained largely below the radar, but Swann hoped that would be remedied by marketing campaigns to be unveiled later this month.’
‘Swann’s research suggested 84 percent of households would buy a DIY security product if it were readily available.’
